A Mission Well Done
The Florida “season” is winding down, and we can all catch our breath. We are sorry to see our snow birds go home, but we can look back over the past several months with satisfaction. Together, we have accomplished and experienced a lot.
- We have made significant in-roads on tackling our budget deficit and have plans to do more.
- We have taken the time to spend time and listen to each other at the January dinners.
- We have had over half of the congregation participate in the Jesus of Nazareth class with lots of positive feedback. I think it got us thinking and more committed to Jesus and his way. Look for classes to be offered continually right through the summer.
- We have collected more for One Great Hour of Sharing and other mission endeavors than ever, including the call to help Haiti
- We have updated some ancient computers and office equipment to improve productivity
- We added a 40” flat screen TV and DVD for video classes
- We are prepared for hurricane season with the addition of hurricane shutters
- We held a wonderful 15th Anniversary Dinner
- We celebrated Maundy Thursday with a new drama and dinner
- We had a very successful rummage sale and craft sale
- We added 2 new Easter banners for the sanctuary with more being designed for next year
- We enjoyed another wonderful Christmas Cantata
- We are sharing all we do with more people than ever in worship, events, groups
And this was in addition to our regular activities of Joy Circle, Men’s Luncheon, Craft Group, Choir and special music, Praise Team, potluck luncheons and brunches, Bunco, and the never-ending chores of yard work and building maintenance.
Are you a ready for a break? Me, too. But as I look back over the past 6 months, what I detect more than anything is renewed commitment: to God, to the church, to each other. To me, the spiritual commitment is rising with more people interested in prayer and bible study and more people willing to invite others into fellowship with this community of faith and with God.
I think it is fun. I think it is fulfilling. I think it is what God is asking us to do: Commit to God, to each other and to those who do not know the saving grace of God in Christ.
Thanks to everyone who has participated in any way. Thanks for a job and mission well done.
See you Sunday
Caroline
