Worship

Hello everyone.
We are beginning to say good-bye to a lot of folks as they head back to their summer homes.  It is my hope that you all have or had a safe trip.

We have completed the Lent and are now in Easter season.  During Lent, Palm crosses were handed out on Palm Sunday to the parishioners.  The Maundy Thursday service was a very moving service with 13 of our men participating in the drama and 4 women that washed the hands of all of the parishioners.  A great big thank you goes to the following people;  Ryan Drendel, Laverne Farmer, Jack Harmon, Norm Hartman, Leroy Hocking, Jack Jacobs, Chet Kobel, Ron LeVene, Tom Meade, Gene Monroe, Loren Rumsey, Chuck Schulze and Lynn Smith; Kerrie Drendel, Sharon Meade, Sandy Monroe, and Bonnie Schulze.  They all did a fabulous job during this service.

Easter Sunday was highly attended.  We had to bring chairs over from the Lentz building to seat everyone.  Thank you to Sally Peth for providing the beautiful flowers in the Sanctuary on Easter Sunday.    Also a huge thank you to the Joy Circle/Crafters for the beautiful Easter banners in the sanctuary.

We are still enjoying the beautiful music being performed by Karrie Drendel between the Contemporary and Traditional Services.  If you haven’t heard her play, please enter the sanctuary early and listen.  She is also playing during some of the offertories in the Traditional service.   Kerrie will substitute for Jeanette in June and August while she is on vacation.

I know you all have enjoyed the bigger choir that has been up front during the winter months.  It has sounded so full with 5 men, 3 altos, and 3 sopranos.  Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to Pam, Gene & John.  They have returned north but will be back to rejoin our group next winter.  All have beautiful voices and will be missed.  The choir will be taking their summer hiatus after May 30th.  Jeanette is working on music for the summer.

I need to give a great big thank you to Elaine Mayer for her help in setting up the Communion table for March and April.  Now if there is anyone out there who can do it during the other months, I would be eternally grateful.  I don’t need anyone for June, July, and August as the choir doesn’t sing those months and I am available to do it.

Reverend Wilson was ill in April and we had a special lady take over the services that day.  Rev. Sandy Monroe officiated in Caroline’s absence.  I want to thank Rev. Monroe for her quick response to fill in for Caroline.  It is great to have someone in the congregation that can fill in on a moments notice.  Unfortunately, Rev. Monroe is heading back up north (Georgia) for the summer months.

Well, I guess I will close for this month and I hope everyone has a blessed, healthy, and safe month.

Lois McGill, Team Member
