Braden River Presbyterian Church Harvest Dinner
November 16, 2008 5:00 p.m Church Sanctuary
Our church is sponsoring a dinner with entertainment and a raffle to benefit the Adopt-A-Family Charity of Manatee County in December.
Adopt-A-Family is an agency which strives to help the working poor during the holidays. The families are screened, qualifying by income and must even provide birth certificates for their children. After we collect our funds, we go to the agency and they provide us with information about the needy families as to the ages of the children and their needs. We then "go shopping", buying food for the family and gifts for the children, returning them to the headquarters for delivery just before Christmas. There will be an even greater need this year with the unemployment and weak economy. -more-
Caroline's Corner
Autumn is starting, or so it says on my calendar. For a long time, that was often the only way I knew when one season changed and another began. Now as an almost 12 year resident, I see the subtle shifts in the weather and landscape as heat, rain and light decrease and different flowers bloom. Suddenly that first cold night will come and fade into a crisp dawn. Then, it will be obvious to everyone that it is autumn.

Mission
In September we collected for the hurricane victims in our country and Haiti. The people in Haiti were hit by three hurricanes and literally have nothing.
We have had a thank-you note from Beth El for the $360 check we sent for their back-to-school program. Also one from World Press News for the $100 check to them. -more-
Worship
October 5th is our World Communion Sunday. This is a special Sunday dedicated to peacemaking around the world. Our church selects a local charity to receive a portion of our special collection on that day. That charity will be the Manatee Children’s Services. This is a local charitable service dedicated to “advocate for and provide the resources, skills, and shelter to alleviate abuse through prevention and intervention for all children and their families”. I hope you support our selection for the church this year. -more-

2nd Anual Cruise – October 25, 2008
Our second annual Braden River Cruise is sailing out of Port Canaveral for a 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise on October 25, 2008.
Currently we have deposits on 11 cabins. We need to have 15 cabins sold in order to have a free one to raffle off for the church. If you are not able to go, please let your friends, family and neighbors know about this great price and hopefully we can get the other 4 cabins sold. Only $25 holds the cabin. Should you have to cancel all monies will be completely refunded. - more-
